The day following Thanksgiving is our family’s day to put up our Christmas tree. It’s a family tradition we started when our children were itty-bitty and continued through the years.
Somehow that tradition has escalated into putting up 7 or 8 trees around the house, each with a theme. But my favorite is still the “family” tree…the one with the decorations the kids and I made over the years, treasured heirloom pieces from our parents and grandparents, and all the family-related ornaments. (My grown daughters still play a game of moving their “Baby’s First Christmas” balls into a more prominent place on the tree to tease each other.)
It takes a lot for a a new ornament to earn a place in the family tree. This rosette ornament, however, may just have made the grade.
This big rosette snowflake ornament measures a little over 8 inches across. It’s easily made with the Christmas Banner Simply Created Accessory Kit.
The kit comes with four pre-scored rosette strips. Glue the two Pool Party strips end-to-end, then cut one of the medium Bermuda Bay strips in half lengthways, to end up with two 1″ x 16″ strips.
Glue them end-to-end, then glue the entire strip to the outer edge of the Pool Party strip.
Fan-fold the entire piece and glue the ends together to create a full circle. Push down the middle and use hot glue to adhere the larger snowflake to the center of the rosette. (You might want to add a circle of scrap cardstock to the back to help secure everything.) Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the smaller snowflake.
Even the bow was made from the kit! Attach the bow with hot glue and add a rhinestone in the center of the ornament.
You’ll even have enough supplies from the kit to make this beautiful gift box topper.
You could use this topper to adorn a sparkly gift, or as a tree ornament. I’ll leave it up to you what creative things you’ll do with the leftover buttons and rhinestones from the kit.
